Netball
The netball team started in 2004 as a drunken rant from a few girls who reminisced about playing in school all those years ago, not all of us had had a good experience of sport at school, so we decided to make it as fun as possible. Sharky a local with our sponsor’s; the plough, took the first step of hiring us a court. Finding free courts was difficult and many a time we played on junior basketball courts, (including ones we had to jump walls to get at!!) A year later the Cowboys were clever enough to spot our outrageous debauchery, and invited us into their madness!
We have since grown to 2 teams in Avon League; in Div 6 and 11.
And have 2 qualified umpires, and 6 in training, and 3 qualified coaches. All training has been financed by our kitty.
NEW PLAYERS EXTRA WELCOME DURING SUMMER!!

Training - It’s our silly season as Netball is a freeze ya tits off sport, so in the summer we can let our hair down a bit. Thursday nights at St Paul’s Academy 7 pm Sharp! (Allowing for stretching and berd like weekly catch up) All welcome!!
From September 6th training will be 6.30 – 8pm, concentrating on Saturday league matches, because of this it is harder for new players to get full training sessions.
We now have a back up indoor court for when the weather is too traumatic for Thursday training.

Stolen from facebook: Swift match report from tonight’s friendly in case you’re interested: a mixture of 6s, 11s and new recruits, including one who came for the very first time, took on a Div 7 Brislington team. In order to give everyone at least half a competitive game, there were lots of substitutions and position changes (as well as taking turns to play Brislington’s WD!) We held it together well and were only behind by one goal at halftime. We launched some strong attacks in the third quarter and moved ahead by 4, but...

A mixed division team of Helen, Jo, Cat, Yo, Misty, Rachel and Kate – in a great first game in only her second week with us! – took on a mixed Div 9 and Div 6 team from Doves. The final score was Cowgirls 16 – Doves 8. Big thanks to Linner for umpiring, Misty’s boyfriend Pete for scoring, and everyone for turning out after such atrocious weather. Well played all and bring on...
