Cricket
Starting in 1993 we now have four cricket teams: three league teams playing in the North Somerset League and a friendly Team.
“The diversion of cricket … upon days when men ought to be busy, and in the neighbourhood of a great city … is not only improper but mischievous in a high degree; it propagates a spirit of idleness and draws numbers of people from their employments, to the ruin of their families.”
Gentleman’s Magazine Vol. 13 (1743), pp486
Outdoor Nets – Tuesday evenings from 530 at Bristol West Indies on Gorden Road.
2011 Season - Last season saw the Sunday 1st Team and the Saturday Team maintain their places in their relevant 3rd Divisions. The Sunday 2nd Team managed to not finish bottom of the Sunday 5th Division.
2012 Season - We will have four teams this season: one Saturday League Team, Two Sunday League Teams and a Friendly Team that will play predominately on Saturdays. As well as this there will be mid-week 20/20 friendlies, we will be entering the 20/20 cup and there will be a bit of wandering going on too.
Fantasy Cricket 2012 – As a fund-raiser for the 2012 tournament the Cricket Team are organising a Cowboys Fantasy Cricket League. Choose a selection of your favourite Cowboys Cricketers and pay £10, then sit back and watch your points mount up as you brave boys do battle in the North Somerset League. For a full breakdown of the rules and player take a look at the Fantasy Cowboys Site.

20/05/2012 The Saturday Team beat Churchways 1st Team by 8 runs. The full score card is here. The reoprt goes thus: This is the one where the Cowboys fluffed it, clawed it back, threw it away and then plucked the sweet smelling rose of victory from the malodorous manure of defeat. The day got off to an inauspicious start when Garnier was grounded by the flight controller but Angelo was parachuted in to replace him. According to the fantasy cricket rules I think this means that Garnier gets placed into administration and will be sold off to the...

Ev reports thus: Churchways opted to bat first and were skittled inside 16 overs for 38 runs. It is believed this is the record for the lowest score an opposition has ever scored against a cowboys side. Though others may remember otherwise? Only 4 bowlers were required. Rob T opened and found a naggingly awkward length, going for just 11 runs. RT2 was quick and aggressive, getting good bounce out of a pitch that looked as though it should be placid and taking 3 for 12. SteveO carried forward his swinging exploits from the weekend with...
