There was a Cricket Friendly at Hazlebury Bryan however no news has reached this parish as to how it went.
Cowboys narrowly lost at Hazlebury Bryan. Jimmy Pitcher’s big hitting cameo at the end of our innings came to an end just too soon, leaving our last 2 batsmen chasing an unfeasible 16 from the last 4 balls – a great outcome as the 180-odd that The Haze put on looked insurmountable, especially after Cowboy specialist openers DC1 and Steve-O went very early and very cheaply.
There were only 4 regular cowboy cricketers in the team, which was made up of friends of Jimmy P. and some borrows from The Haze. It was gratifying that regular cowboys took 9 wickets between them (3 each for Evan, Steve-O and DC1), whilst Jimmy P. enjoyed a very tidy afternoon behind the stumps with some good catching.
The game was played in front of a surprisingly large crowd, as if this match was something of an event for Hazlebury Bryan – gorgeous weather, farmhouse cider from the pub opposite, just very fine indeed.
